So we are all about to get brain damage from Zika since its exploding in the us. Should congress should be forced back into session? They have already failed numerous times to pass a bill because both sides keep attaching no go amendments. Place bets on number of infected before congress acts? They should have passed it with no amendments before they left. Those that tried to add crap to it should be publicly taunted.

But the states are running it now, the way you hate it, the only way to change that is to have the federal government takeover, which makes the federal government bigger.

Yes all those poor inner city kids will be qualified and lined up to be accepted! Well, that's the way it has worked in Washington D.C. where the children are 79% African American, 12% Hispanic, and 7% white. A great many black parents are happy as hell their children are finally being taught something besides being dependent on government handouts. Naturally Obama and the Democrats have fought the voucher program in D.C. tooth and nail.

Yes all those poor inner city kids will be qualified and lined up to be accepted! 👍😂 In Washington DC vouchers of $8,000 a year was given to students in kindergarten through 8th grade and $12,000 a year for students in grades 9-12. That is just federal money. Many states that have state voucher programs (think red states) offer thousands more per student giving much or all of the money that used to go to a crappy school, to the parent. You see mik, in a capitalist society, when there is a demand for something, there will always be entrepreneurs to offer a supply. When I was in the 4th grade, they announced they were starting forced busing in my school district the next year. I would have had to take a bus from my suburban neighborhood, every day, and go to an inner city school. My mother pulled me out of public school and put me in our churches private school. When I started at the private school, it was small. There was only one teacher per grade. and about 15 to 25 kids in each grade. The next year enrollment exploded. They turned the whole school building into just the high school, and rented a nearby closed department store and turned it into the elementary and middle schools. The big giant building's "classrooms" were made out of office partitions. The garden center which had a wall separating it from the rest of the store, was turned into the gym. With a federal voucher system, with all of that money available, you had better believe there will be a lot of new private schools and a lot of expansion of existing ones.

Vouchers typically never cover the entire cost.

Vouchers typically never cover the entire cost. Oy vey! Until now you didn't have a clue as to what a school voucher was or how it was used and suddenly you're a regular voucher maven. And NO, I'm not going to define "maven" for you. Look it up.

Vouchers typically never cover the entire cost. I just looked at the website of my alma mater. The tuition this year is $3384 a year, plus a $280 book fee.

Grade school alma matter? This is just a guess, but I suppose Chrunch was referring to this: My mother pulled me out of public school and put me in our churches private school. If this is the case, then I'd guess his point was the voucher would have more than covered his "private school tuition" when he was a lad. Or not. I'm just guessing. By the way, thanks for the link to the 9/11 grants. Kinda makes my point about how big government is not very good at spending money wisely or as it was intended.

Donald usurping grants that were meant for small business proves your point how? Businesses like Trump's have staffs of tax lawyers who's sole job is to look for tax breaks and free government money, and navigate through the red tape to get those tax breaks and grants. The poor guy that runs the deli or convenient store might be the well intentioned targets of these grants, but Joe Blow is too busy making sandwiches or selling chips and beer to even bother with such things. The government agencies that administer block grants like these are incentivised to distribute all of the grant money because money that is not spent this year will be deducted out of the agency's budget the next year. Those 9/11 grants were approved by federal employees. They knew who all those companies were. They approved the money anyway.

What if my family isn't religious? Then don't be. Outside the Muslim world, belief in and practice of a religion is not a prerequisite for attending a "parochial" private school and certainly not for attending a secular private school. What is required is paying the tuition and abiding by school standards such as dress codes and classroom behavior standards, to name a couple.

Captains example was a private Christian school. Yes it was. Now, just to help you out, what else do you not know about, let's call them, "non-public" schools? Because I'm sure we can help you learn more about them if you can identify a particular hole in your knowledge which you'd like filled in.

Captains example was a private Christian school. My example was the school I attended. I don't think they run buses to Philly suburbs, so obviously you would have to choose a different private school. My point was the cost, which is much less than government run schools. Despite being in the redest of red states, Houston, like most major cities is run by Democrats. We have not had a Republican mayor since 1992. Our outgoing school superintendent made over half a million dollars a year. WTF! The new guy's base salary will be $345,000 a year plus bonuses. No wonder our education system costs so much. No one should be getting rich at tax payers expense. source

What if my family isn't religious? Let's continue the teachable moment, Mikey. I like you. No really, I may not like your politics; doesn't mean I can't like you. So here's a question for you: Where do Barack and Michelle's girls go to school? Hmmm? I would think you might know this if you know the history of your state, named after William Penn. Did you know the word "sylvan" means "consisting of or abounding in woods or trees; wooded; woody, as in 'a shady, sylvan glade'." William Penn's state, early known as Penn's Woods -- Pennsylvania. We'll get back Willie. Here's the answer to the first question. Malia and Sasha Obama attend a private school. No public school for them. In particular they attend the Sidwell Friends School in Washington D.C. Guess what; Sidwell Friends is run by Quakers. Like William Penn was a Quaker. I don't think the Obama's are Quakers. But the girls can go to Sidwell Friends because mommy and daddy can afford it. But here's the point of this history lesson. Whereas the Obamas and other prominent Democrats in and out of government can send THEIR kids to private schools instead of sending them to crappy public schools, they don't want YOU to be able to send your daughter to a private school unless you are rich as they are. That's why they fight so hard against anything that might compete with the Democrat party-supporting, union-controlled public schools, like, oh say, school vouchers that allow not-as-rich-as-the-Kennedys parents to give their kids a better education. And this is why I applauded Donald Trump's vow to help end the left-wing stranglehold Democrats have over the public education that YOUR children are required to have. Of course I can concede you, Mikey, might prefer your daughter be well versed in Marxist economic theory and constant anti-American polemic, but some of us are NOT excited about our children's heads being filled with socialist mush.

Yeah I'd much rather them be taught xenophobic, racist, homophobic behavior. I do appreciate your armchair psychology lesson though.
Don't assume you know me, I was raised by Catholic school. There is a reason I do it my way.
And I'm sorry what the hell do the Obama girls have to do with anything? You seem to be trying to prove some philosophical ideal that means something to you, but it isn't coming across.

Do you really not know how foundations work? That is how foundations work.
Do you think that all of the money from the Clinton Family Foundation comes from the Clintons?
How about the Kyle Busch Foundation?
The celebrity or wealthy person starts the foundation and then raises funds from others for that charity. They have these events you see, in fact they are actually called "fund raisers".

But trump is the one saying "he's " giving out of his pocket. It's dishonest if it's coming from another source.
