8 years ago I sat glued to the TV all day watching and listening to the pageantry, the tradition, and the spectacle of Barack Obama's presidential inauguration. It was fascinating and I was caught up in the truly historic nature of the event. Today, while I type, I'm glued to the TV watching the Donald Trump inauguration with the same fascination and recognition of another historic event. All the pundits agree that President Trump needs to make the most of his first 100 days, traditionally recognized as a presidential "honeymoon" period where a newly inaugurated chief executive has the greatest chance of success instituting his campaign promises. After that first 3 months is up a new president as a much harder fight passing the various items left on his agenda. It doesn't take a political wonk to recognize that Donald Trump isn't going to be given any sort of a honeymoon either by the loyal obstinate opposition or the MSM a.k.a. the Propaganda Department of the Democratic Party. Still, Donald Trump DOES have a Republican majority in both the House and Senate. His biggest advantage? He is probably the first Republican president who has NO need of the MSM to get his message to the people. He is quite capable of reaching the people without ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, The New York Times, Washington Post or any of the left wing filters of the news. The sunset can be so peaceful, so serene

The differences between the new president and his predecessor became glaringly apparent even before the inauguration was over. Whereas Barack Obama's two favorite words which he has used in every speech he's ever given are "I" and "me" Donald Trump's inaugural address referred to himself only 3 times mid-way through the address: Conversely he referred to "we" the American people 45 times. What a refreshing difference!

Just couple of quick notes. Sometimes it's the little things one does that can indicate the direction one goes on the big things. Upon entering the Oval Office President Trump turned the bust of Winston Churchill to its place of prominence. The bust had been removed from the Oval Office by Barack Obama and replaced with a bust of Martin Luther King, Jr. Interestingly Trump retained the civil rights icon's bust. I guess President Trump decided there was room for both. But in a move that might portend bigger things, by 12:00pm yesterday ALL reverences to the climate change hoax had been removed from the official White House Web Site. This is certainly a hopeful sign.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA! I love it! Last last week acting AG Sally Yates sent out a directive to Justice Department lawyers that they were NOT to defend the Administration regarding the President's temporary immigrant ban. In her directive Yates wrote: "I am not convinced that the defense of the Executive Order is consistent with these responsibilities nor am I convinced that the Executive Order is lawful." Here is the official White House Announcement as reported by the Associated Press: This is the sort of thing we need more of. It is just about time we had a Republican president who would stand up to Democrats and remind them of Barack Obama's famous words: "Elections have consequences. I won, you lost." I fully expect a great many early retirements, active resignations, and outright firings in most, if not all of the Executive cabinet departments and other federal agencies. File it under Draining the Swamp.

Drain the swamp indeed. I for one am sick and tired of the Justice Department picking and choosing which laws to enforce.

Oh wow! Another earthquake today in the U.S. Senate. Finance Committee Chair Sen. Orin Hatch, not known for standing up to Democrats, went into a righteous rage when the Democratic members of his committee chose to boycott the committee hearings on two cabinet appointees. So he led the committee into changing the rule that required Democrats to be present for the voting, and then, but a vote of 13 - 0, promptly passed those two appointees on to full Senate. This is monumental. It is the U.S. Senate version of "Oh yeah? Well F.U." When someone like Orin Hatch publicly refers to Democrat stalling tactics as "a bunch of crap" that's tantamount to putting on a pink cap, dressing up like a vagina, and protesting every thing under the sun. Atta boy, Orin. Good to see you grow a pair. This tells me there could be some other candy ass Republicans who have decided to stand up and throw down with the Dems. President Trump's nomination of federal Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court last night could see a similar Senatorial fist fight which would ultimately result in Democrats getting their asses handed to them again. Bring it on!

Over 160 years ago a great many blacks were held in physical slavery on vast cotton and sugar plantations operated by Democrats. Today a great many African-Americans are held in economic and educational slavery in vast urban plantations operated by Democrats. Quiz Question: What is the common denominator here?

Today's White House press briefing was conducted by President Trump himself. I'm posting it in it's entirety, not because I expect a great many to watch, but because for the first time in a long time, many ever, a Republican President has stood up to the White House Press corps and, in very civil terms told them, "You can kiss my ass!" You can now browse the TV networks and the world wide web to see a great many news reports about what was said and how wildly erratic the president was. And how he ranted and raved, which he predicted, by the way. News reporters heads are exploding all over the nation and I couldn't be more pleased. Note, if you want to watch, the actually beginning of the press conference begins at 26:56 God, it was wonderful!

Just a quick post script. It has been going on since Presidential press secretary Sean Spicer chose to let a reporter other that one from the Democrat Praetorian Media to ask him his first official press briefing question. Today's press conference hasn't improved the mood of the old guard. I've been browsing the political news today and there seems to be a common theme. Mind you, I'm not linking to anyone in particular because you can see it for yourself wherever you choose to look. The common theme is how the news reporters from the Clinton News Network, Nobody But Clinton, Clinton Broadcasting System, All Barack Coverage and the rest of the Opposition Party (a.k.a. the MSM) are weeping and wailing and gnashing their teeth. They're screaming "foul" and "un-American" and "un-Constitutional" and plenty of other epithets because President Trump is refusing (gasp) to kiss their asses to which they have been accustomed over the past few decades. Must be rough to discover after all these years you really aren't the center of galaxy any more.

You probably remember President Trump telling the sanctuary city crowd: "Fine, you break federal law, I'll cut off federal dollars!" Apparently that threat is having an effect. From Law Newz: San Francisco? Chicago? New York? Time to wake up and smell the coffee!

All right! Score one for the The U.S. Constitution and the 10th Amendment.
The battle of the bathrooms began in the states from the moment Barack Obama committed yet one more example of his presidential overreach.
Today's action from the White House returns control of school bathrooms back to the states and, through those states, the individual school districts.

Yet again, the lunatic left has gone off the rails trying to get rid of Attorney General Jeff Sessions. You can read about this example of Fake News here if you like. But my take on the matter is that it's time for President Donald Trump to stand up and, on behalf of his entire administration and the American people, offer the Democrat leaders the same suggestion that Vice President Dick Cheney offered to Democrat Senator Patrick Leahy in the Senate one day. Naturally, the Prez would probably need to soften his words a bit, substitute necessary euphemisms as needed. To his credit Cheney needed only 3 words. I can't tell you all of them, but I'll give you a hint. The first word was "Go" and the last one was "yourself."

Got one hell of a battle going on regarding the attempts by the Establishment Republicans to push through Obamacare Lite. Donald Trump has placed himself on the side of the RINOs which means stalwart conservatives will have to gird loins and go into battle with heads held high.
The problem is that Repeal & Replace has become Retool & Resubmit. We need our outnumbered conservatives in Congress to stiffen their spines and convince the wobbly Repubs to do exactly what they promised to do if only we would vote for them.

I'm guessing that Canadians who have been deriding U.S. efforts to get control of our border are going to reach the point where they are going; "Hmmm. You know. I think, eh, I understand. what. the. Yanks. are. talking. about."
