Oh boy, here we go. The Republican and Democratic presidential nominating conventions are coming with starting with the Republicans in Cleveland starting Monday July 18 through Thursday July 21. I've watched political conventions with great interest starting with the Democratic convention in 1972. Hey, I was a Democrat back then, but I eventually grew up. I always try to watch as much of the conventions as I can just to enjoy the dichotomy between Republicans and Democrats. Republican Conventions tend toward patriotism and dignity. Democrats lean more toward screaming protests and carnival freak shows.

I hate to admit but I fear this year's Republican Convention could end up looking very much like that standard Democratic convention; raucous, irreverent, and on the edge of out-of-control. With less than a week before the Republican convention gavel falls the anti-Trump forces (read: Establishment Republicans) are still trying to pull off a miracle. That element, in itself, makes this "Must See TV" starting Monday Related to what the major convention theme might be let me remind you of something I wrote back on June 4: [Richard] Nixon went on to win the election that fall, basically on two main campaign issues: He would bring a resolution to the war in Vietnam and, more importantly at the time, vowed to restore law and order in the streets. Millions of voters, who might not have particularly liked Nixon, decidedly liked law and order and sent Richard Nixon to the White House. Twice. ------------ I can see history repeating itself. All Donald Trump has to do is...vow to restore law and order in the streets. And millions of Americans who may not necessarily like Donald Trump, but who decidedly prefer law and order will send him to the White House in a landslide. This past Monday Donald Trump was speaking before a Veterans Group: Like I said, I'm ready watch.

In a related convention topic, a reporter for RollCall.com says she has inside information that Donald Trump is ready to name Indiana Governor Mike Pence, tomorrow, as his choice for Vice-Presidential running mate. Despite the denial of no decision being made yet, the online version of the Indianapolis Star newspaper is reporting that Pence has dropped his bid to run for reelection as governor.

The Convention was gaveled to order. Quick notes: I was glad the national anthem was performed with grace and dignity. Not only did the large chorus of singers know ALL the words, but a camera pan of the audience showed a great many of them singing along with the chorus. You probably won't see such a spectacle at the upcoming Democrat Convention due to most Democrats are no doubt not as familiar with the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner as are most Republicans. I also found it interesting that the convention's invocation was brought by a Jewish rabbi. I will not be surprised if the Democrats open their convention with an Imam calling out the infidels. "Allahu Akbar", eh?

OK! Here we go! The 2016 Democratic Nominating Convention is off and running. The show got off to an rousing start with an African-American choral group offering an a capella presentation of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic." They did a passably good job on the number with a striking arrangement of the song, but I couldn't help noting the odd incongruity of the use of this particular song at a gathering of Democrats. I can certainly understand how the decedents of former slaves might have an affinity for the one song that is most closely identified with the anti-slavery movement. In fact, the historical reality is that The Battle Hymn of the Republic was considered the anthem of the Republican abolitionist North in the Civil War. If this choral group had been concerned with historical accuracy they should have started the Democratic Convention off with a rousing rendition of "Dixie." "I wish I was in Dixie, Hooray! Hooray! In Dixie’s Land I’ll take my stand to live and die in Dixie. Away, away, away down south in Dixie. Away, away, away down south in Dixie. This was followed by the opening Invocation which ended up being loudly booed and jeered with enthusiastic gusto by the very sizable Bernie Sanders contingent when the woman tapped to invoke Divine blessing upon the assembled delegates couldn't resist reminding the Almighty of how the anointing of Hillary Clinton was the obvious purpose of the gathering. She wasn't the only fair and impartial DNC official who took an early opportunity to rub the Sanders crowd noses in the Clinton doggy doo. The Sandernistas were NOT amused. In case you are interested in observing Democratic socialism at its finest I found a drinking game for the occasion at PJ Media. The rules are simple and should get your through the next 4 days:

History has been made. Yes, HISTORY, I tell you. Just in case you haven't heard yet, Hillary Clinton has become the first woman to be nominated for president by a major party. No really. She's the first woman to be nominated for president by a major party. History making!
I can't tell you much else. I really intended to watch all the Democratic Convention as I could. I really started off Monday with attention on the activities. I did it again on Tuesday. But honest to god I couldn't take it. I've never heard such hateful, evil, despicable caterwauling in my life.
Democrats have no honor, they have no shame, they have no dignity, and they sure as hell have no business in charge of anything having to do with me or my country.
Oh, just in case I forgot to mention it, history was made last night when Hillary Clinton became the first woman nominated to be president by a major party. I kid you not.

I'd vote for Jill Stien before I'd vote the Hilderbeast. I had to google Jill Stien's name to find out who she was. I'm glad to see other lunatic left candidates in the race, candidates who might siphon off votes from the Democrats. By the way, history was made when Hillary Clinton became the first woman to be nominated for president by a major political party. I couldn't remember if I'd mentioned that, but I surely didn't want to leave out that galactically important fact.

I'd like to see Ralph Nader jump into the race, the Bernie people and a lot of dems that don't like her would have an option for their votes. I think it would hurt her and help Trump although the Russians now can help trump if the give wiki leaks some more emails. Some on the Clinton foundation and what they did to Hati would be very helpful.

Pssst! Jab! Ixnay on the Ussionsray. The Democrats are already trying to take Trump's sarcastic humor and turn it into a nation security matter. But then again, I guess if MY candidate was guilty of knowingly compromising national security again and again and again, violating federal security laws again and again and again, lying to Congress again and again and again, selling out my country's vital interests again and again and again, and operating a political slush fund under the guise of charity for years and years and years I guess I'd do whatever I could to divert attention away from that and onto whatever issue I could find, imaginary or not.
IMHO things are beginning to look a little bleak for Hillary Clinton, who (in case you didn't know) is the first woman to be nominated for president by a major political party. History in the making, don't you know.

I'm curious who is feeding Assange the files. It maybe another Snowden in the woodpile. That's a good question. How is Julian Assange getting his hands on these DNC emails? I think we have to ask, what is the motivation behind making these emails public? The story line coming from Washington is that it's the Russians who hacked the DNC computers to get the emails. OK, let's go with that for a moment. Maybe they did. I wouldn't be surprised nor particularly shocked. I would hope Washington is actively "hacking" Russian and Chinese servers and I'd be disappointed to find out they weren't. That's the theory of National Intelligence Director James Clapper who says this is just the normal "tit for tat" intelligence gathering that goes on among counties that have such capability. But why would the Russians turn around and so obviously reveal the hack by giving Wikileaks the emails? To embarrass Hillary Clinton? Why? If we can also assume they have their hands on emails from Hillary's less-than-secure personal servers it would behoove them to see her in the White House. Talk about a Manchurian candidate! They would own her. So I ask again, who is motivated to bring down the Democratic Party apparatus? Hmmm. Well, how about a Bernie Sanders supporter who is convinced the DNC was stacking the deck against Sanders? The emails certainly prove that. A Republican? I could believe that, too. I believe the answer will be found when the right people correctly deduce who has the most to gain from this email server breach.

I agree it's not a state actor here, they will wait until she wins to inform her they now own her. My guess it's another Snowden in the NSA or other alphabet agency. As to motive James Comey gave a lot of people the motive two weeks ago.

I considered saying it might even have been someone within the DNC who thought an avenging angel was needed to right some wrong committed by the higher ups. However, it never occurred to me to direct my gaze toward someone in another "spy" agency upset at James Comey and looking to even the score because of Comey's telling the DoJ that everyone should just drop the issue.

I just finished watching Hiliary's speech. Damn it seemed really long.
I did notice that about 3/4s in, she started listing things she was going to do.
But, when she got to free tuition, and paying off student loans, she said work to do.
She then went on to trash the student loan system. Good god, the student loan system was seized by the Obama administration years ago. She knows that is an empty promise.

That video is hilarious and frightening and prescient, all at the same time. You're right, these folks really are angry. Sort of reminds me of some Trump supporters I've seen on video. Scary, huh?
But one guy had a great response when he asked for 3 reasons why he should vote for Hillary Clinton and the first item on the list was, "breaking the glass ceiling." And he shouts back: "What the hell is the glass ceiling? My Mama's a woman, my daughter's a woman. I asked you for 3 reason why I should vote for Hillary." I loved it!
That guy brings up a good point. Every time Hillary Clinton denies playing the gender card and then gets beat up on her character or obvious criminality she reverts back to "don't you want to see a woman in the White House?"
I just don't think a bumper sticker slogan like "Vote for Me, I Sit to Pee!" is a convincing campaign argument.

Companies declare bankruptcy all the time. We had a subsidiary of Enron that we signed a contract with - and guess what, they shut down and went bankrupt. There was another company that we delivered over $1000 dollars worth of catered dinners to, they went bankrupt. We were offered used furniture from their office as partial payment. Sometimes you just have to close a business. I don't hold that against Trump at all. This is just one of many mole hills the press has been trying to turn into a mountain.

have you even read the constitution (not) and you know it lmao My dear Hagar, I am sure I'm more familiar with the U.S. Constitution than you are. And by "familiar" I mean with what it actually says, as opposed to what some left-wing Democrat lunatic would like everyone to believe it says. Perhaps we might start up a thread: "What the Constitution is, and what it isn't." Here's a starter: Sorry Barack, but the U.S. Constitution is NOT a mutual suicide pact. Sometimes you just have to close a business. I don't hold that against Trump at all. This is just one of many mole hills the press has been trying to turn into a mountain. If that isn't the truth. I saw a bit of Barbara Boxer (or some other rabid socialist, hell, they all look alike) raving at the crowd and screaming: "YOU KNOW HOW MANY DONALD TRUMP BUSINESSES HE'S BANKRUPTED?!?!!" And she's holding up 4, count 'em, 4 fingers. So out of the hundreds of businesses Donald Trump has started and/or in which he's invested 4, count 'em, only 4 have declared bankruptcy. And this is before we get into which of those 4 were actually under his immediate control when they filed whatever bankruptcy "chapter" they filed. So, are the bankruptcies a big deal? Well, to borrow a statement from Hillary Clinton: "What difference, at this point, does it make?"

He's still a loud mouth snook lol I won't argue that. However, one thing I forgot in all the "Trump Business Bankruptcy Molehill" crap is this question: With all their regulatory overreach through the EPA, FTC, SEC, OSHA, and half a dozen other alphabet bureaucracies how many THOUSANDS of businesses in this country have been bankrupted by the Democrats with their Maxist ideology?

...he really put his foot in his mouth on this one didn't he (yapping about the muslims) he just doesn't know when to shut up... Sadly, this is true. Sometimes Donald Trump would be better served simply to ignore provocations tossed at him by the left. Apparently it is not in his nature, any more than it is in Hilary Clinton's nature not to tell a lie, even at times when the truth would serve her better. What is so sad to me is that Donald Trump allowing himself to be drawn in by typical blatant Democrat pandering is distracting everyone from the fact that his stand on a temporary ban of Muslim immigration is not only appropriately pragmatic but entirely Constitutional. anyone who is anyone in your party are getting as far from him as they can I think the operative phrase, here, is "in your party." There are a great many of us who couldn't give a flying f*** what the Republican "anyones who are anyone" think about anything. The evidence of that is the fact that Donald Trump is the nominee. He certainly wasn't the choice of anyone who is anyone in the Republican party. But as Sam Levinson wrote:
