Not Guilty on All Charges

The Baltimore cop who was facing the most serious charges for the death of Freddie Gray was acquitted on all charges this morning. Of the six Baltimore police officers who were charged in Gray's death, only Officer Caesar Goodson, the police van driver, was accused of murder. Prosecutors charged him with second-degree "depraved heart" murder, which carries up to 30 years in jail.
According to WBOC 16 News:
The States Attorney Marilyn Moseby charged all the officers with everything in the book with the exception of "spitting on the sidewalk" and "teasing a mounted officer's horse." Moseby and her Social Justice Warrior sister-in-arms, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake did their best to fire up the mobs and promote the massive rioting that followed the arrests of the police officers. As far as the news promotion of the case was concerned, this was just another typical example of the evil white justice system discriminating against poor downtrodden minorities. There was only one problem with this scenario:
From WBOC:
There's something else the news media fail to mention. ALL of the public officials involved in this case are Democrats. In fact the city of Baltimore has been run by Democrats for decades. You'd think that would make blaming evil white conservatives for all the city's problems rather difficult, but that doesn't stop social justice warriors from doing just that, or at least, implying it with every public pronouncement.
But to bring this to a close, Judge Barry Williams also acquitted Officer Edward Nero of misdemeanor charges last month, and declared a mistrial after a jury failed to agree on manslaughter and other charges against Officer William Porter last December.
Porter's retrial is set for September and there are three other officers who have charged, but yet to be tried. The Baltimore prosecutors in this case are faced with a problem. They can either drop the charges against the remaining officers OR continue to pander to the ignorant mobs and risk additional judicial embarrassment.
According to WBOC 16 News:
Baltimore Judge Barry Williams also ruled that the state failed to prove manslaughter, assault, reckless endangerment and misconduct in office. "There has been no evidence that this defendant intended for a crime to happen," Williams said, adding that "the state had a duty to show the defendant corruptly failed in his duty, not just made a mistake."
From WBOC:
The case became a rallying cry for the growing Black Lives Matter movement and sparked more outrage nationwide over how black people are treated by police and the criminal justice system. But the case hasn't fit quite so neatly into the American narrative of white authorities imposing justice unfairly on black people. In this case, the defendant, trial judge, state's attorney and mayor are African-American; at the time of Gray's death, so was the police chief.
